Asset Lifecycle

Vulseek will identify new assets associated with your organization based on existing assets.

For this reason, it is very important to start by uploading at least one domain name.

Asset Creation

Vulseek automatically creates certain types of assets based on specific conditions listed below.

Domains

  • Manually only.

Hostnames

  • Brute force on the parent domain
  • Certificate transparency logs
  • Names in SSL/TLS certificates (Subject CN and SAN)

Public IP Addresses

  • Port scanning on a network that includes it
  • DNS resolution of hostnames

Open Ports

  • Port scanning

SSL/TLS Certificates

  • Port scanning

Email Addresses

  • Credential leaks (requires special integration)

Active Directory Domains

  • PingCastle scan file processing

Relations Between Assets

In addition to identifying new assets, Vulseek will identify relations between existing assets.

For example, it can identify that a hostname belongs to a domain:

The hostname “www.example.com” belongs to the domain “example.com.”

It can also identify IP addresses within networks:

The IP address 190.1.2.3 belongs to the network 190.1.2.0/24.

Asset updates

Vulseek automatically updates the properties of previously identified assets. In addition, users can modify certain data such as descriptions and/or assign or delete tags to assets at any time to identify them more easily.

Assets deletions

Users can delete any asset at any time (whether it was created automatically by Vulseek or manually). In addition, Vulseek runs an automatic cleaning process that includes the deletion of assets under certain conditions. For more information, see the section on Automatic Data Cleaning.

Note: Deleting an asset permanently removes all findings linked to it.
